Connections: Complete

We’ve retooled our editorial engine from top to bottom — new titles, new rhythm, same mission.

“People pay more attention when they think you’re up to something.”

When we committed to relaunching the Institute, we first needed to decide what MWI v.2.0 would look like. We learned a lot in the early days, so coming out of our hiatus, we had a pretty good idea how to shape it. But we still needed to work out the details.

That work is now complete. We've established several verticals — that's just a fancy industry term for "titles" — and we have them all set in places where they're within easy reach of anyone who would like to read them.

First up is this space, the official blog of the Modern Whig Institute. We renamed it The Signal to reflect its two primary purposes: to update you on the latest Institute news, and from time to time to share, when called for, the Whig perspective on the important matters of the day.

We publish this blog simultaneously to the Institute website and to The Modern Whig Leader, the free journal of the Institute. There's no set time for it. We'll post here as needed.

The official newsletter of the Institute also has a new name: The Breakdown. That drops every Saturday morning at 10 a.m. Eastern Time. We take one big news story from the week and break it down into its component parts to get a feel for how the story became a story, and more importantly, why.

We've also carried over the popular Odds and Ends section from The Breakdown's previous incarnation as the Weekly Digest. It's a compilation of links to interesting and amusing stories we've come across during the week.

And life is, if anything, both interesting and amusing. You never know what you're going to find in the Odds and Ends.

The Sunday Wire is published to the Modern Whig Leader every Sunday evening at 7 p.m. Eastern Time. It's a contemplative essay, meant to give us something to think about as we enter our next work week. The Wire also features a section called The Addendum, which adds some more information and context to the subject at hand — often in surprising ways.

Subscribing to the Leader is easy: just hit the Subscribe button at the top of the page and leave us your name and email address. You'll get the Sunday Wire, The Signal, and all the stories we publish delivered straight to your inbox. You'll also get to comment on our posts.

To get The Breakdown and any other Institute newsletters you choose to receive, just scroll down to Newsletters on the Institute website and sign up there.
